Reports have surfaced over the last 48 hours that Miley Cyrus is the latest hot young actress being considered to play the leading lady in the remake of the song-and-dance extravaganza, Footloose!
A source which is close to Miley Cyrus has been quoted as saying: "They've expressed an interest in Miley for the part", and an insider from the production company further added that Miley "is definitely in the mix".
As it currently stands, there are a few actresses which are being considered for the part. They include Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Julianne Hough; all of whom have auditioned in recent weeks for the part of Ariel Moore, the independent-minded daughter of a preacher man. Whilst Miley Cyrus' reps had no comment on the potential casting coup, it maybe a bit premature for her to sign on the dotted line just yet.
The film is scheduled for release on June 18th 2010, and Miley's schedule is already booked full through the end of summer. The Hannah Montana star will soon be heading down to Georgia, where she will be working on an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' as yet unreleased book. The Last Song, scheduled to begin on June 15th 2009.
As for the Footloose production, no cast members have yet been officially announced, though Chace Crawford seems to be the favourite to replaced Zac Efron to a leading part. Both Chace Crawford and Derek Hough have auditioned for the Kevin Bacon role of Ren.
